Solar eclipse viewing draws large crowd at AUM

By: Jordan White During the afternoon of April 8, Auburn University at Montgomery’s campus community enjoyed the solar eclipse event open to the public and held on the lawn by the Ida Belle Young Library tower. According to NASA, everyone should wear a set of eclipse glasses that comply with the ISO 12312-2 international standard for viewing the solar eclipse. These glasses come darker than regular sunglasses. A total eclipse occurs during the day when the moon completely covers the sun, blocking out its light, according to NASA. Photo Courtesy of AUM Athletics By: Tasker Wheeler Auburn University at Montgomery men’s baseball opened their spring season with two losses against Saint Leo University and ended that Florida trip with a win. They then had a midweek matchup against Miles College in Birmingham, Alabama and unfortunately lost 7-12. This means that the team is currently sitting at a 1-3 overall record.  After the tough loss in Birmingham against Miles College, head coach Franklin Bush said “[He’s] frustrated with what we put on the field today." Head Coach Franklin added, "We consistently talk about limiting free bases, but we gave away seven walks and two hit-by-pitches. We have to do a better job of making teams earn what they get. Offensively, we need to find some situational hitting. Runners...

Students exercising their right to choose

Voting on College Campuses By: Victoria Salters As the 2024 election cycle gains momentum, college students nationwide are increasingly participating in the democratic process by exercising their right to vote, which is due to campuses, including AUM, facilitating voter registration and education. This increase indicates young adults' increased realization of the power of their voices to influence the political system. With a surge in voter registration drives and civic engagement initiatives on campuses, young voters are poised to make a significant impact on the upcoming election. "I believe it's cruci...
