MONTGOMERY, Ala.- If you are a fan of historic films and free food then this is the event for you. AUM’s College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences is giving the public the opportunity to watch the screening of “Women in Gold,” and will serve as part of the Holocaust Memorial Day feature.
According to the AUM website, the screening is based on a true story about Maria Altman (played by Helen Mirren) and her nephew (played by Ryan Reynolds). Altman seeks to regain a portrait of her aunt- the painting is important because Altman is also fighting to gain a measure of justice for the death, destruction, and art theft perpetrated by the Nazis.
Free popcorn and sodas will be available for attendees to make you feel that you are getting the ultimate movie experience.
This is also a great way to socialize and network with people who enjoy conversation about political history.
The event will be introduced by faculty members Dr. Eric Sterling and Dr. Naomi Slipp and will take place at Goodwyn Hall 112 on Thursday, April 11 at 7:00 p.m.
This is the last film of the series that AUM will host for the year.
