Being the same person, but having to flip perspectives between school sports and their social life can be challenging. Auburn University of Montgomery (AUM) junior soccer player Lauren Akemon gave helpful insight into the dedication it takes to be a student-athlete. Her friendly attitude is matched by how determined she is on the field. According to the AUM Athletics website in 2022, Akemon helped AUM earn a draw with Lady Flames playing 477 total minutes on the year. Her training begins with a workout in the Wellness Center from 8-9 a.m., and after classes she ends with practice in the gym from 4:30-7 p.m. Torquetti says these tough practices usually consist of “a lot of reps of swinging, blocking, passing [and other] volleyball movements.” Torquetti’s stats prove thepractices are valuable as her season highs consist of nine total blocks and 16 points against LeeUniversity last Friday. AUM Names Jon Plefka as New Head Coach for Women’s Basketball Team 

By: Cameron Grant Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) has welcomed the appointment of Jon Plefka as the new head coach for the women's basketball team. He is replacing Steve Kenner, who was the interim head coach for the women's team. Plefka is an experienced coach with an impressive track record, having previously worked with Post University in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). As a college athlete, he played basketball for Bob Knight at Texas Tech University and also played baseball for the Texas Tech who was coached by Larry Hays and was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels to play Major League Baseball (MLB).  Plefka had a successful five-year stint as the head coach of Post University's women's basketball team, where he achieved an impressive 84-55 overall ...

Auburn University at Montgomery hosted its Alumni Tailgate last weekend

By: Lex Wedgworth Last Saturday, April 22, 2023, Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) hosted past alumni and their families for a tailgate at the baseball game against Valdosta State University (VSU). The event provided alumni with an opportunity to reconnect with their AUM community and support the Warhawks. The tailgate was held on the fan deck of the AUM Baseball Complex, and lunch was included. Families had to register to participate in the event. The AUM alumni tailgate started at 1 p.m. Central Standard Time. People attended the event for various reasons, such as the sense of community, the organization of the event, and the chance to catch up with other alumni and enjoy great food. On March 26, 2023, the tennis program partnered up with the Dream Court Montgomery during the women’s and men’s match against Gulf South Conference (GSC) rivals Delta State. The Dream Court is a non-profit organization that provides a tennis program for people who have mental and physical disabilities. The focus of this organization is to have fun while learning how to play tennis, “Serving Hope, Changing Lives” is their motto. Warhawks soar to victory against Albany State in baseball

By: Cameron Grant MONTGOMERY, Ala – Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) baseball team bounced back into the win column with an impressive performance against Albany State University (ASU) on Wednesday. The Warhawks dominated the game from start to finish, ultimately winning 13-3 in a non conference matchup. The Warhawks would record their 13th double digit run on the season in this game. AUM would have nine players who would score run in this game to help secure the win in this game. AUM wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard, as they plated six runs in the first inning by Clayton Phillips, Kasey Clark, Cooper Doughman, Brody Syer, Jarren Wright and Zach Dew.
