PRCA AUM chapter to host cultural event at volleyball game

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MONTGOMERY, AL - October 20, 2022 -  Candy around the World will take place on Oct. 28, at 6 p.m., before the AUM Women’s volleyball game against the University of West Alabama. The event will feature candy and refreshments from each of the 16 countries represented by the student-athletes of the AUM Athletic Department. The event will feature candy tasting, goodie bags, informational sessions and chances to win prizes! The student body is encouraged to attend before supporting the women’s volleyball game. With exchange institutions in South Korea, China, Japan and England, students can diversify their education and stand out among job applicants! Pageant coordinator Keenan Carter was happy to speak about the growth of the pageant since its inaugural run the year prior. “Last year, we took an idea with two months as a committee to put it together with no experience. A major part of the collegiate experience that AUM offers is the ability for students to be involved in and create clubs based on their heritage, interests and pre-professional development. The Black Student Union, known on campus as BSU, is one of the most recent additions to AUM’s list of student clubs and organizations. The first Black Student Union was created in 1966 at San Francisco State University and other colleges adopted the club shortly after. Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, Delta Zeta Sorority and Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority spent a week hosting and learning all about potential new members as well as sharing their reasons for joining greek life. This week of getting to know potential new members is called Primary Recruitment. The four-day event will start on April 12 and continue through April 15. Every day the career fair will begin a new session at 10 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. Any students who are looking for a job are more than welcomed to join the virtual career fair. The steps to join are simple. The first step is to register for the career fair via Handshake. Handshake is a third-party website that specializes in helping college kids find jobs in their majors.
