 Warhawk Academic Success Center to host “Turn Lemons into Lemonade”

MONTGOMERY, Alabama (March 6, 2023) - The Warhawk Academic Success Center (WASC) is hosting an information meeting, "Turn Lemons into Lemonade," on March 8th from 12:15 p.m.-12:45 p.m. at Taylor Center 230 on the Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) campus. The presenter for this event will be Ar'Shundra Hampton. The meeting is intended for students who did not perform as well as they had hoped during the Fall semester. The WASC advisors are professional staff members who can help provide guidance through a process that helps students identify a plan to increase their academic success. By: Van Cathcart III Auburn University at Montgomery’s volleyball team is scheduled to take on the Mississippi College Choctaws on Nov. 11 at 1:30 p.m. AUM is moving on to the second round of the Gulf South Conference Championship after taking down Valdosta State on Nov. 7 by a final score of 3-1. The Choctaws are sitting at the number three seed in the tournament and earned a bye in the first round of the tournament. The Warhawks have met the Choctaws two other times in the past, with Mississippi taking both contests with scores of 3-1 and 3-0. The Warhawks finished with a 16-17 overall record in the regular seasons and 8-8 in conference play. Spanish, Anthropology classes celebrate Day of the Dead

On Tuesday, the department of sociology, anthropology and social work held an event in the Taylor Center showcasing students’ projects for Dia de Los Muertos. Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a Latin American holiday celebrated on November 1 where families and friends can celebrate and honor their deceased. Some customs include parties, parades and the building of altars to honor the dead. “The entire purpose is to remember the dead that you were close to and honor their lives,” said Dr. Kimberly Pyszka, a professor at AUM’s department of sociology, anthropology and social work.
