No Comments “Locked Up” for a Muscular Dystrophy Fundraiser
It’s not every day the Director of Student Involvement and Leadership gets locked up.
On November 16, Joel Hughes was placed “under arrest” in a campaign to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Muscular Dystrophy is a group of diseases that cause a loss of muscle mass and progressively weakens the muscle. The whole purpose of this specific campaign was to raise money to help small children who can’t afford to go to camp for children with Muscular Dystrophy be able to attend and get an experience that could be life changing.

No Comments Holiday Giving With AUM Athletics
The holidays are right around the corner, and now is the time for giving.
Students in the AUM Athletics program have shown their commitment to making a difference in the community all year, but especially during the most wonderful time of the year. They have partnered with the Montgomery County Sherriff’s Office to collect donations for a toy drive, with the Ceil Championship Holiday Gift Drive to deliver gifts to nursing home residents, and with the American Red Cross to host two major blood drives.
Each individual team also chooses a local organization to volunteer with. This year, teams have chosen Make-A-Wish Alabama, the Alabama Alzheimer’s Association, the Montgomery County Humane Society, and local elementary schools.

In a Q&A with "ART Club" Adviser, Associate Professor and Department Chair William Fenn, we learned the importance of art at our university.
Q: Why does the Art club take trips?
A: The ART Club takes trips for three key reasons: First, prior to the ART Club being launched in Fall 2016, I met with an exceptional group of Department of Fine Arts sophomores and juniors who stated they felt it was very important for any art related club to offer students the opportunity to travel to large cities and experience various types of art not available in Montgomery, AL. No Comments Updated Policy for Student Accounts
The Office of Student Accounts has changed its policy for holds on students accounts and registration cancellation. Students will no longer blocked from registration for owing $500 or less. Instead, a hold will be placed on the release of the student's transcripts. Also, students who owe more than $3,000 on the day of the registration cancellation deadline will be immediately withdrawn from classes. One great resource we have on campus is our Center for Disability Services center. For me personally I know I have not always fully understood all disabilities and the fact that they may not always be seen. I sat down with Jenise Jenkins the Senior Program Associate in our Center for Disability Services to have a better understanding of what the center provides for our students body. She also gave me insight on the different types of abilities that our students face. “Well you may not see because not everybody’s disability can be seen, everybody may be dealing with a disability that is invisible. A global community is what this nation represents and our AUM Study Abroad Program is playing its part in helping our student body become more engaged and familiar with a global mindset. The annual Study Abroad fair just kicked off the excitement of the student body about this year’s travel opportunities. In an interview with Yiyun Liu our Study Abroad Manager, she gave insight on how you can study abroad and what the benefits of studying abroad are.
Q: What students are eligible to study abroad?
A: Students are eligible to apply for AUM Study Abroad programs if they has the minimum AUM Overall GPA of 2.75 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students, and have completed a whole year (Fall and Spring semester) of study at AUM when the chosen program starts.

There's no better way to get in the holiday spirit than seeing a play at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival! Every year, the Festival brings Charles Dicken's heartwarming and exciting play "A Christmas Carol" to life for the Montgomery community. Showings will begin November 30 and run until Christmas Eve, which provides plenty of opportunities for family and friends of all ages to experience this classic holiday story. No Comments Fall Commencement Ceremonies
Auburn University at Montgomery will host its Fall commencement ceremonies on December 9 in the Gymnasium.
Graduates from the College of Business, College of Education, and College of Public Policy and Justice will walk in the first ceremony at 10 a.m. Graduates from the College of Arts and Sciences and College of Nursing and Health Services will walk in the second ceremony at 2 p.m.
After each ceremony, Auburn University at Montgomery will provide refreshments for graduates, family and friends in a tent on the Quad.
Family and friends who cannot attend in person but would still like to participate can watch a live video of the ceremonies on the Auburn University at Montgomery website.

No Comments AUM Club Celebrates Spectrum of Sexuality
Inclusivity is the goal of Spectrum on campus. Formerly known as the Gay Straight Alliance, this organization has changed names in order to cover the whole “spectrum” of sexuality and make sure everyone feels welcome. Vice President, Eva Valentine explained the reason for the name change was to “help the organization be a part of a larger community because both Troy University and Auburn main campus have their organizations as Spectrum.”
“We are doing a lot more educational events than we have in the past. We want to get our name out there and also the community doesn’t have the information that it needs like safe sex, mental health and isolation are big things in our community, so we are battling that,” says Valentine.
